Section 106 developer cash funds park improvement work in Cardiff

Four of Cardiff's parks are being spruced up for summer with section 106 cash to improve open space near housing developments.

Sports and play facilities, refurbished seats and railings and landscape and footpath improvements are among the work at Despenser Gardens, West Close, Roath Park and Hammond Way Park.

Cardiff Council sports, leisure and culture cabinet member Huw Thomas said: "This work will ensure that our green spaces continue to be great areas to enjoy."

Ashdown Landscapes, South Wales Sports Grounds and IAE Fencing are working on the improvements in Despenser Gardens at an approximate cost of £17,500.

WM Garden Services secured the £20,000 West Close contract. Thane Cemetery Supplies, Horizon Civil Engineering and ARC Fabrication are responsible for the £8,000 improvements in Roath Park, while Sylvan Landscapes and DCM Surfaces are completing work worth around £52,000 in Hammond Way Park.
