Of the 10,000 schools that took part in the project - growing potato plants from seed to help children learn about healthy eating - three have been rewarded for growing the heaviest crops of Vales Emerald and Rocket potatoes.
Pollyplatt Community Primary School in Lincolnshire harvested 4.7kg of Rocket (provided to schools by Cygnet PB) while pupils at St Paulinus C of E Primary School in Crayford, Kent, and Sutton First School in Norwich each harvested 4kg of Vales Emerald (provided by Greenvale AP).
GYOP project manager for the Potato Council Tracy Coult said: "Our congratulations go to the pupils of the winning schools."
- Potato Council is calling on growers to get involved in next year's GYOP project. Coult said: "Whether it is dropping a leaflet into a local school, supplying seed potatoes or interacting with children in the classroom or on your farm, the Potato Council has resources available to those wanting to help."
