Scholarship scheme set up in honour of Seabrook

A £6,000 scholarship at horticultural college Writtle has been set up to honour one of the industry's most respected figures.

The Peter Seabrook Scholarship will be funded by Easy Gardener to cover two years' tuition fees for a student on the foundation degree in horticulture. Easy Gardener managing director Dan Boxser and Val and Steve Bradley joined forces to spring the surprise on Sun gardening editor and Horticulture Week contributor Seabrook.

The scholarship reflects Seabrook's keen interest in training that provides the industry with individuals with a broad range of practical skills. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who is able to demonstrate a commitment to, and excellence in, horticulture.

The scholarship will be available from September.
