Salvia Love and Wishes, was bred by Australian plant breeder, John Fisher. It was launched at the Chelsea Flower Show 2015 by Dyson’s Salvias, where it won third prize in the new plant competition. It went on to win Best In Show at the Horticultural Trades Association National Plant Show at Stoneleigh and a Silver Medal at the Plantarium show in the Netherlands.
The awards are judged by an expert panel of judges who rated Salvia Love and Wishes above all the other entries.
Plants For Europe Limited is an independent plant breeders’ agency based in High Hurstwood, East Sussex, UK. PFE works with breeders of new garden plants to help them develop and promote their new varieties to the European market and to other markets around the world. PFE introduces these new varieties to growers, protects the breeder’s intellectual property and collects royalties on their behalf. The business is run by Graham Spencer, together with his wife Helen. The company was founded in 2003.
Graham Spencer said: "We are delighted with this award. Love and Wishes is a first class plant from John Fisher and the continued success is a reflection of the quality of the plant breeding. We have also benefited from the support of a great team of licensed growers who have both ensured a supply of top quality plant material and also got behind promotion of the variety."
Plants For Europe has licensed Salvia Love and Wishes to some of Europe’s most successful growers, and gardeners will find it in catalogues and garden centres this spring.
