Sainsbury's has delivered poinsettias to one of nine schools who received more the 1,800 plants grown by Hill Brothers as part of the Stars for Europe Poinsettia campaign.
Funding came in addition from Sunrise Senior Living and The Sun.
Pupils received poinsettias free of charge and some schools are running competitions to see which pupil can keep their plant looking good for the longest period. School choirs have also gone out to Sunrise premises sung carols to the residents and given them poinsettias.
Sainsbury's is selling 100 per cent British-grown poinsettias this year.
