Roundup glyphosate wins wins Glee prize

Roundup's latest innovation, the Gel Telescopic Wand has won its first industry accolade scooping a new product innovation award at Glee 2016.

The Gel Telescopic Wand, which beat off competition in the tools and machinery category, allows consumers to tackle weeds without the need to stretch or bend down.

The innovative wand extends from 0.3m to 0.6m. Roundup Gel attaches to the wand with a twist and dispenses the weedkiller through the click of a trigger.

Roundup’s Gel Telescopic Wand is compatible with the original Roundup Gel and the newly launched Roundup Tough Gel and Path & Drive Gel.

In Switzerland, their parliament has rejected a ban on the weedkiller. EU extensions last until October 2017. Roundup is the flagship product of Monsanto, which is due to be sold next week to Bayer.

Exhibitors at Glee said Brexit was likely to make it easier to keep using chemicals such as glyphosate in the UK.

Glee launches included:

Grass seed innovation: Scotts Evergreen Superseed germinates in low temperatures, Westland Safe Lawn feed safe for children and pets.

Flowers ornaments: Gardman poppy bird feeder, Smart Garden flower LEDs.

Light bulbs: Smart Garden, Bonnington, Javado.

Branding-Briers’ Julie Dodsworth range, Treadstone’s Peter Rabbit range, Wildlife World’s Simon King range, Little Babas’ Mr Bloom range.

Pest & Disease Factsheet - Wilt

Poor husbandry, physical damage to roots and various diseases can all cause water deficit in leaves and non-woody stems of plants, leading to loss of turgor pressure in cells and flaccid tissues, which can lead to wilting in bedding, pot plants and nursery stock.
