Richard Beales to design Princess Diana rose garden at Capel Manor College

Richard Beales, son of the late Peter Beales, who left the family nursery to set up garden design company, Richard Beales Design: Roses and Gardens, has won his first commission for a scented Princes Diana Rose Garden at London's Capel Manor College.

Following the loss of both parents and sister Amanda, Beales said he decided to build a design business knowing Peter Beales Roses, with its team of rose experts was secure in the hands of his long-time colleague and mentor, Ken March, as managing director.

For more than 20 years, Beales has been responsible for the design of the Peter Beales Roses stand at Chelsea.

Roses are likely to feature prominently in Beales' designs and planting but also can be presented within the context of other flowering plants, shrubs and trees.

He said: "‘Right now my whole focus is upon building a roses and gardens design business within horticulture that reflects everything I have learned from my father since childhood.

"Peter Beales Roses stands as his lasting memorial. My business will stand as my personal and professional tribute to him as I reinterpret and develop ideas that have been a long time in the making and are now ready to be grown."
