Retail analyst GfK reports March garden sales drop

Industry analyst GfK has reported an 8.1 per cent fall in DIY/gardening sales in March 2015 compared to March 2014.

GfK said: "The DIY/gardening sector suffered particularly when comparing to March last year because of less favourable weather causing declines in many of the gardening product categories."

Sales were down 1.9 per cent and 1.6 per cent in January and February respectively.

March 2014 was 26 per cent up and March 2013 was 22 per cent down, making it the most volatile month for sales in the calendar. April 2014 was 20 per cent up.
