Restaurants lead garden centre building

Poplars Garden Centre managing director David Little is having the restaurant at the Bedfordshire centre expanded to 306 seats, with plans for another 80 in the future just six years after a previous catering expansion.

Space Catering is doing the work. Opening is 7 March. There is a pop-up restaurant operating at present.

Little said the old restaurant, expanded in 2009, is already too small.

Builder Hodges is building a big new development at Klondyke in Garforth, West Yorkshire and a retail extension at Garsons Titchfield. The builder is completing work at Garsons Esher, which includes a big new restaurant. There is likely to be a soft play area built at Esher.

Pleydell Smithyman has planned work at Knights Nag Hall, which will open at the end of February. Squires Long Ditton is to have an extension - Elmbridge council allows 28 per cent extensions in the green belt site. Work is also planned at Abercorn garden centre in Essex and Bridgeford Garden Centre in Nottinghamshire for concessions, restaurant, farmshop and play barn extension. Pleydell is also planning at Puzzlewood in the Forest of Dean where some of Star Wars and Dr Who was filmed.
