He came to England in 1954 and started work at the Rearsby nursery near Syston, Leicestershire. The nursery became one of the largest growers of roses, trees and shrubs in England at its peak.
In 1979, Boswijk founded the Willik Garden Centre, which became one of the largest in the region.
R Boswijk - Horticultural Agencies grew, adding other root stock and hedging producers. He handed these agencies over to his son, Robert in the late 1990s.
During the 1980s Bob and Robert started Rearsby Roses and won gold medals at flower shows. The rose was at Bob's heart. He was involved with the formation of cooperative RDL (later the Rose Growers Association).
