Meika, which trades under the name Primrose, saw turnover of £35.7m in the year to 31 October 2016, down from £40.4m. Profit was £1.882m, up from a loss of £51,000.
Director Ian Charles said the Primrose brand was being "generally recognised" after years of marketing and systems investment but said turnover had reduced "as competition continues to grow online".
He said there were also "considerable threats due to the fall in value of sterling".
Wyevale has launched an online offer this year and had turned over a record £0.6m in May. Dobbies is linking with Ocado for March 2018 launch. Amazon, Wayfair and others have also moved more strongly into online gardening.
