The Mayor of Dorchester, Councillor Robin Potter, congratulated the garden centre team, based just off Queen Mother Square in Poundbury, Dorset and cut the cake to declare the 10 days of celebrations open.
Lucy Simpson, manager of Poundbury Gardens said; "It was a real pleasure to see so many residents, customers and local businesses attend the ceremony to mark this very special milestone. We are extremely proud of our role in the local community and as Poundbury continues to grow, we are looking forward to seeing what the next 10 years has in store."
With plans for community tree planting, charity donations and special offers at Poundbury Gardens, the 10 days of celebrations will finish on Thursday 10 March with a community party, by invitation for local residents and businesses.Owner The Gardens Group, run by Mike Burks, is holding a forum on 17 March with representatives from the Royal Horticultural Society's Affiliated Societies team - Britain's largest network of gardening clubs and horticultural societies. They will join a Flower Show Forum at The Gardens Group's Castle Gardens in Sherborne, Dorset from 2pm - 4pm.
