Consisting of 50 apple trees as well as pear, cherry, walnut, medlar, quince and filberts, and featuring an all-ability path, the Wittenhams Community Orchard will be planted this coming winter and will be accessible year-round.

It is part-funded by a grant of over £14,000 from the Postcode Local Trust, which distributes revenue from the People's Postcode Lottery, as well as from two other trusts.

"We hope to attract a number of 'cropsharers' to invest to help ongoing maintenance and in return receive an equal share in the products of the orchard," the foundation said.
