Plea for support from garden centre grottos

Greenfingers, the national charity of the gardening industry, has made a last-minute request to any garden centres planning Christmas grottos to nominate it as its charity.

Charity chairman Richard Jackson said: "Although we realise that this is very short notice, we are hoping that some centres will be able to help support Greenfingers in its invaluable work creating magical gardens for children's hospices around the UK.

"There are currently ten hospices around the country that urgently need our gardens and we are keen to raise as much money as possible over the Christmas period in order to start creating these much needed gardens.  Other ways garden centres can help raise money for Greenfingers over the festive period include wishing wells or simply placing collection boxes in café or by the till."

Email info@greenfingerscharity.org.uk or ring The Greenfingers Charity on 0118 930 3132 for details.
