The university has ordered 100 Holestar planters to fix to 50 lampposts along the central walkway of its Uxbridge campus. It was looking for a way to display flowers that did not include having to hang planters on chains because of concerns over the safety of people walking underneath.
The planters slot into custom-made brackets fixed securely to the posts.
Plantscape managing director Mark Stone said the Holestar planters addressed a number of safety issues.
He said: "They do not swing around on chains and they can be lifted into position without the need for ladders or cherry-pickers. We are confident that they are the ideal solution for Brunel University's needs."
Brunel University grounds manager Simon Carroll said: "The walkway is quite open and it gets quite windy so we chose the Holestar planters because they wouldn't swing from side to side."
