In 2014 and 2015, ‘Plants for the Future’ was designed to encourage discussion amongst plant breeders and the horticultural trade and to discover ways in which the RHS may assist British plant breeding to reach its potential.
The RHS "believes there is a lot of great amateur breeding happening in Britain that goes no further than hobby stage because the breeder is not always aware of the options and steps involved in getting a plant to market. We hope that one key outcome of the 2016 workshop will be to provide a useful resource for potential new breeders, consisting of plant breeders agents, nurseries, growers and other useful contacts who can be contacted once the breeder has decided which route to take."
