The deadline for comments on the ComAgri report on Plant Reproductive Material (PRM) legislation has been delayed by a week.
Plant breeder representative Graham Spencer who has been campaigning on the issue said: "The legislative process for this Regulation is long. Our best estimate is that it will become law in 2016 with an effective date in 2018, although it could be up to two years earlier than that if the legislative process is expedited.
Spencer criticised the report findings and urged interested parties to make comments.
Comments on these ComAgri reports now must be submitted by MEPs before December 11. The date for ComEnvi was December 10.
