Pitch expert leaves stadium post

Time to move on for Millennium Stadium turf expert.

Millennium Stadium project manager Dave Saltman has resigned, just days after the FA Cup final. Saltman said: “It was time to move on. The staff are in place to get the pitch in and out.” Stadium managers called in Saltman in January 2004. “My remit was to go in and pull things round after the stadium parted company with InTurf,” he said. Head groundsman Lee Evans remains in his position. Dutch company Hendriks Graszoden, which is providing eight of the 12 2006 World Cup pitches in Germany, is providing the turf. Contractor is SF Hodgkinson.
