Open Spaces Society helps persuade Oxfordshire County Council to give Warneford Meadow town green status

The Open Spaces Society (OSS) is celebrating after Oxfordshire County Council agreed to register the 20-acre (8.1ha) Warneford Meadow as a town green.

The society advised its member, the Friends of Warneford Meadow, on the process and donated £500 to the campaign.

The county council decided on 6 April to register the land.

OSS general secretary Kate Ashbrook said: "The land is a haven for wildlife. It was threatened with development, but registration as a green protects it forever."
