Next Home & Garden wins planning permission

A £12m home and garden centre in Plymouth, Devon will take Next a step closer to its target of a chain of 20 stores.

The proposed three-storey store will include homeware, fashion, a cafe and garden centre and will employ 140 people.

It will be built on a derelict brownfield site that has been unused for eight years and is adjacent to the current Next home store.

Next have agreed that as part of the granting of planning application for Marsh Mills they would retain a city centre store for 10 years under Section 106 after Plymouth councillors expressed concern about loss of business in the city centre.

Next has plans for stores in Dundee and Leicester and already has centres in High Wycombe,  Solihull, Sheffield, Southampton, Shoreham, Camberley, Ipswich, Bristol, Warrington and Wilmslow. A Hull centre is also planned.
