Willerby Landscapes - which has won awards for its work on Chavasse park in the Liverpool One development - is having a busy spring with 25 live jobs, despite a commitment to maintaining prices.

Operations director Rick Davies told HW that although the firm was having to work harder to win work in the recession, it had been booking work ahead, and was extremely busy.

"People are demanding more and there is pressure on margins," he explained. "We have to work harder to win work but we set a very clear policy a long time ago about how to deal with the recession.

"We said we wouldn't drop our prices to the point where we couldn't deliver a quality job. We have stayed tru to that company philosophy all the way through."
