But Titchmarsh is in discussions about a new gardening project with the BBC, the corporation has confirmed. The BBC will announce this news next week.
The Daily Mail reported today that the 60-year-old presenter is in advanced discussions with the BBC to reprise the Gardeners' World presenting role he held between 1996 and 2002.
Earlier this spring the show was relaunched with a new main presenter, Toby Buckland, at a new base in Birmingham. The new series has won mixed reviews.
Buckland replaced Monty Don, who stepped down after suffering a minor stroke. A BBC representative said: "Alan is a fantastic broadcaster and of course we'd love to have him back at the BBC so we're talking to him about a number of new projects."

I think Toby is the best presenter since Geoff Hamilton ,there is a good rapport between Toby,Alys&Joe .I had to stop watching when Alan Titchmarsh presented GW.If there is going to be another gardening show as well as GW then BBC give the job to some-one else not Alan. There is so much talent out there.
'Gardeners World' is not the programme it was. Maybe Alan T would be able to reprise his previous role? However, Toby Buckland is a Good Presenter and has a very nice approach. The format needs to change a bit. Lets have more more enthusiastic Plants People who do not employ OTT superlatives like Fantastic! Superb! etc. Plants, by their appearance, tell you what you need to know.
Give Toby another series but think seriously about the others.
