Edwards On ... Import substitution can boost economy

- As someone who grew up at a time when Britain still had an engineering base, it is heartening to hear the Government claim interest in seeing that base re-established. There seems to be general agreement that while finance and the City are vitally important elements of our economy, life would feel a bit more comfortable if we could re-establish a meaningful manufacturing base. If the current "disgrace" of the City plays a part in making manufacturing fashionable again, I'll see that as a good thing.
