Writtle College launches MA in historic designed landscape
Friday, 02 July 2010
An MA in historic designed landscape is being launched by Writtle College in Essex later this year. The course is designed for people interested in conserving and managing historic landscapes.
Fullor part-time students will be accepted onto the course. Full-time students will be able to complete it in a year. They will study two taught semesters from September to June. They will then be expected to submit a research dissertation in October.
Part-time students will be able to take two or three years to complete the course. Part-timers will normally be expected to do one day a week of formal teaching on a day-release basis. The college said the part-time option will appeal to many professionals working in the landscape industry.
The course will include various modules from the college's course in landscape architecture, which is fully accredited by the Landscape Institute. Writtle College is part of the University of Essex.
Writtle already runs a wide range of postgraduate landscape and conservation courses. A large number of historic landscapes are within easy reach of the campus.
