The range now accounts for 10 per cent of the company's sales and is helping it get back on its feet after a turbulent year.

Speedcut contractors became the latest company to purchase the "baby" grader this week and they are already enthusiastic about the purchase.

Contracts manager Barry Pace said:  "With the new laser grader, towed behind a Toro SandPro, we can create perfect tee platforms to any fall, increase the useable area and help greenkeepers spread wear without the need for large machinery or major reconstruction.  It is the ideal machine for working on smaller areas that need a precision finish."

Speedcut have been carrying out extensive work relevelling and regarding tees at Foxhills Golf Club and Resort in Surrey.

BLEC's owner Gary Mumby said the focus on the smaller models marked a new way of thinking for the company.

He said:  "We have been selling the laser grader for 1 about 12-13-years not.  We have sold a lot over the years but we have only just started focusing on the smaller ones."

He said the range represented a small but very significant percentage of the company's turnover as they look to put the difficulties of 2008/9 behind them.
