Greenacres Nurseries is located close to Woodlands, one of Wyevale Garden Centres' largest centres. It grows bedding and has operated as a retail nursery on a 0.8ha site since 1979.

The sale was undertaken on behalf of Brian and Sandra Claybrook and Janet Kennett, Sandra Claybrook's sister, who have retired. The buyer is Matthew Gilliver, a Warwickshire businessman, who paid an undisclosed sum and is looking to develop the site, which includes a new restaurant/tearoom.

Alexander Mackie marketing director Darren Earnshaw said: "It had been quiet, but people are now looking to get into the industry again. It's good news that people still want to get involved."
