Further big names for the garden retail industry are expected to be added to speak on trends in the industry such as attracting younger customers, using the internet for sales and using market information to boost business.

Garden Futures - the Secrets of Success builds on last year's strategic business conference for the garden industry, which was held at the London Stock Exchange. The event will start with a business dinner on 20 October with John Sergeant, ex-BBC political editor and star of Strictly Come Dancing, as the main speaker.

A supplier panel includes Scotts Miracle-Gro general manager Martin Breddy, Solus managing director Nick Davies and John Woods Nurseries chairman/managing director John Lord.

HTA president Andrew Richardson said: "Whatever the economic climate, all businesses need to make time to take stock of where their markets are going and this year's Garden Futures conference is designed to do just that. As well as assembling a fantastic line up of speakers, the HTA is working hard to ensure costs of attending are kept low to ensure that the insights and experience that our speakers bring can be shared with as many members as possible."
