Hot favourite Ulf Nordfjell took best in show at Chelsea but was among just three show gardens to win gold.

In the Great Pavilion, Winchester Growers took gold - as did Hillier - among 47 gold winners, up from 41 in 2008.

Luciano Giubbilei's Laurent-Perrier Garden was another gold-winning show garden, as was the Chetwood Perfume Garden.

In 2008, there were eight gold-medal-winning show gardens.

Best urban garden among three gold winners was Helios by Kate Gould. In 2008 there were five golds in the category.

In the courtyard section, Giles Landscapes was the only gold winner. In 2008 there were three golds in the category.
