The Government, leading companies and research groups will address the UK Vegetable Industry Conference & Exhibition, held on 28 January.

Defra chief scientific adviser Professor Robert Watson will outline major issues of food security to the audience in Peterborough.

Another speaker, NFU head of economics and international affairs Tom Hind, will tackle the implications on the vegetable industry of the financial crisis.

Other speakers at the event include PC Tinsley managing director Mark Tinsley and ADAS scientists Peter Dampney, Dr Jeremy Wiltshire and Jude Bennison.

Chairmen are ADAS manager for horticulture research and consultancy Dr Bill Parker, and Syngenta crop specialist Bruce McKenzie.

Both organisations are exhibiting along with Agralan, Clause UK, the East of England Agricultural Society, the HDC, Sakata, the NFU and Tong Engineering.
