Yorkshire Wildlife Park is one of the fastest growing visitor attractions in the UK, with visitor numbers growing from 66,000 in the first year to 680,000 seven years later.
After a brand new camel reserve was developed along with the Masai Coffee Shop and picnic area, the park decided it was time to improve outdoor play facilities, which are an important part of the attraction for families.
The Oasis Adventure Play Area, launched at Easter, contains a wide range of play equipment. Toddlers and young children are catered for with a large sandpit, building site, see saw, balance blocks, jumping flower, play huts, dwarf hill, swinging horses, jumping discs and a specially modified whirligig, created to resemble a meerkat. Sand has been used as a safety surface.
Older children are spoilt with more challenging play equipment. A large climbing structure and a triangular platform combination, both of which can hold huge numbers of children at any one time, promoting the development of both motor and negotiation skills.
The triple beam swing contains beams which respond to one another to make the ride more exciting. The cable way, see saws and a nest swing complete the playground. Wood chip has been used as a safety surface across the wider site.
