The London Borough of Hackney chose the architect for a mixed-use project in Shoreditch, which will replace the 1970s Britannia Leisure Centre and add a new six form entry secondary school and 480 new homes.

FCB will masterplan the project and design the housing while FaulknerBrowns Architects will design replacement sports facilities for Britannia, which is located next to Shoreditch Park. A roof-top games area and a new a café and toilets for the park are among the improvements the council has suggested will be included.

Keith Bradley senior partner at FCBStudios said: "We are delighted to have been selected for this fantastic project that offers the opportunity to regenerate a key site in Hackney, forging new links with Shoreditch Park to the south and the Colville Estate Redevelopment to the north, and regenerating a thriving London community with the facilities and amenities it needs.’

The project is due to go to planning in spring 2018.
