Seb Smith is the new managing director of shopfit and garden centre design business Stagecraft. He takes over from founder Tom Davis, who will move to the chairman’s role.

Smith previously worked for international display business Displayplan and before that with Display Creatives.

As director of Displayplan’s retail division he created a £10.5 million business from scratch in four years. During his career he has delivered large retail programmes for major brands such as M&S, Gap, Clarks shoes, Nike and Banana Republic. He also has experience as a publisher with trade and consumer magazines.

He said: "I would like Stagecraft to build on its success as a leading company not only in Mid-Wales but both Nationally and Internationally. I want us to continue our reputation as a business that produces quality and can be trusted.

"Our move now to a much larger factory signals our intent to service the significant changes now happening within the industry’’.

Davis, who started Stagecraft 30 years ago, said:" This was always part of my succession plan. As chairman I shall continue to work with Seb on product design and development."
