New Birds Eye peas ad gives grower's perspective

Birds Eye's first TV advert for five years, which begins airing today (24 October), features an unnamed UK grower explaining the "love and care" that goes into the brand's fresh frozen peas.

The ad forms part of a £4m push for Birds Eye Garden Peas and Petit Pois over the next year, the company said, and will be followed next month by new pack designs showing the story of its peas from "seed to plate".

Birds Eye UK managing director Steve Chantry said. "The campaign, which forms part of our new product­focused marketing strategy, aims to communicate the expertise, quality and care that goes into all our peas.

"We hope that consumers will forge an emotional connection to the process and realise that it requires hours of love, care and attention to produce peas of the highest taste and quality."

A voice-over on the advert is provided by the actress Patsy Kensit, who featured in a Birds Eye peas ad in her screen debut 43 years ago.
