Musselburgh Racecourse tries out new ryegrass blend

Musselburgh Racecourse in East Lothian has become one of the first to experience the benefits of Barenbrug's new BAR 50 SOS.

Following a trial earlier in the year, the racecourse selected the ryegrass blend to repair turf this June and will use it again

Head groundsman Mark Bemrose said: "Having seen how it performs in good growing conditions, we're now hoping for similar results in dormant conditions."

BAR 50 SOS includes 4IR-1 annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum), which Barenbrug claims offers quick establishment, cool soil temperature germination and amenity turf characteristics.
