Forty years ago, Japanese breeder Mr Matsunaga wanted to create a unique mulberry that would be compact with tasty berries, fruiting over a long season.
Thirty years of hybridising culminated 10 years ago with this single selection.
Since then the plants were propagated in Japan before coming to Europe, and have been proudly introduced onto the UK market by Suttons.
This ground-breaking mulberry is a huge development in this genus; self-pollinating, dwarf (up to 1.5m) and compact, perfect for smaller gardens and patios.
Flavoursome berries from June to September, fruiting on new and old wood, even within the first year. This fully hardy and easy to grow variety will be happy in a good-sized pot on the patio or planted in the garden.
It is being launched at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2017 and entered into the RHS Chelsea Plant of the Year competition.
