Monty Don in Islamic gardens TV series

Monty Don is filming a new series on how Islamic gardens' influence called Monty Don's Paradise Gardens, produced by Blink Films.

He will visit Andalucia, Turkey, Iran and Islam in the series, which is of two one-hour shows.

Gardener's World presenter Don will tell viewers about four areas of Islamic civilisation, Andalucian, Moghul, Persian and Ottoman, "by visiting gardens that symbolise and represent each".

On his journey, he will also discover the importance of gardens in Islamic culture.

Don made a 10-part series called Round the World in 80 Gardens in 2008, which didn't take in the Middle East in its travels round six continents. He also made Monty Don's Italian Gardens with Blink Films for BBc2 in 2011.

Gardener's World has been dropped to be replaced by snooker on 28 April.
