Merger between BTME and Saltex shows ruled out

A merger between the BTME and Saltex shows is out of the question for at least five years, British & International Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA) representatives are reported to have told exhibitors at a special meeting at BTME last Thursday.

BIGGA communications manager Scott MacCallum said: "We are committed to Harrogate. It ticks most of the boxes for both visitors and exhibitors of the show."

The overall attendance figure for the three days was 6,019 - more than two per cent up on last year - although the number of exhibitors was down from 150 to 107.

MacCallum described the 2011 show as "a very positive affirmation of the work we have done to produce an event that is in line with what is wanted by attendees".

Departing BIGGA chief executive John Pemberton invited exhibitors to discuss the issue following calls from some exhibitors for a merger of BTME and IoG Saltex.
