Thirty delegates from 18 European countries discussed concerns in the European nursery sector at the general assembly during IPM Essen. Spain and Italy expect to recover from recession, while the UK is forecasting increases.
The Netherlands expects strong exports, while Italy and Spain expect exports to increase. Other countries anticipate flat exports. The UK did not report on exports.
Ireland, Italy and the UK expect production to increase, while Finland and Germany expect it to decrease. Belgium, Italy, Norway, Spain, the UK and Serbia expect internal retail markets to increase, while Germany and Switzerland expect decreases. Denmark, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Serbia and the UK expect internal amenity markets to rise.
ENA has also accepted French organisation Val'hor as a new member. Val'hor presented promotion programme Cite Verte towards greener cities (www.citeverte.com), a model to influence and campaign for the greening of urban spaces, as well as French ornamental figures of 4,154 holdings, 21,200 jobs and 16,600ha production area. ENA's five-yearly International Plant Names Lists will be printed in March 2016.
