Having developed and demonstrated lithium-ion technology in its power tools, Makita has now brought this advanced power source to its outdoor equipment range with the introduction of a 36V cordless brushcutter.
The new Makita BBC231 uses a 2.6Ah Li-ion battery to power a brushless DC motor to drive the long shaft, drive head and 230mm steel cutting blade. Benefits include quiet running, even at 7,000rpm, reduced vibration and low weight of 6.8kg. Tests have shown average working time is 30 minutes per change. It takes just 22 minutes to recharge a battery.
