Low-cost security

A low-cost solution to the problem of machinery theft has been introduced by West Midlands-based Derwent Trading International.

The Block Stem agricultural and plant security system is suitable for tractors, construction plant such as JCBs and mini-diggers, or any other self-propelled machine with an exposed power steering ram.

Manufactured in two sections from heavy-duty steel, the tamper-proof Block Stem slots together over the hydraulic steering axle ram and locked in place. The unit acts as an effective visual deterrent and the vehicle can only go round in circles, preventing it being loaded or driven away.

Imported from Italy, the system costs £240 + VAT and comes with a five-year warranty and a money-back guarantee in the event of any failure. It has full Thatcham accreditation and approval is being sought from NFU Mutual to qualify for insurance premiums discounts.
