Landscaping products firm Marshalls receives sustainability award

Hard landscaping company Marshalls has triumphed at this year's PLC Awards for smaller companies by picking up the Achievement in Sustainability Award for the second year running.

Marshalls' group marketing director Chris Harrop, who champions sustainability at the firm, picked up the award at the ceremony held at London's Grosvenor House Hotel last week.

Harrop said: "To win this award last year was fantastic, but to win it again this year is a real achievement.

"2009 hasn't been the easiest year for anyone but sustainability is the only way to go if we want to tackle serious global issues like climate change. It's only by adopting a sustainable approach that businesses can really start to make an impact."

The Achievement in Sustainability award recognises accomplishments in one or more of the three key areas of the triple bottom line of economic, environmental and social sustainability. It also recognises companies that make their own operations more sustainable and play an important role in helping address wider issues such as the causes and effects of climate change.
