They have fuel-economising overhead valve engines, steel-lined cylinders, double air filters and aluminium decks. We reckon they are machines that will last and that you’ll want to use.
The smaller Klippo is a push-and-go mower while the Pro S model features front-wheel drive that impresses Guppy. He says: “The 19" (48cm) is light and manoeuvrable and will mow right up to the base of trees. With the 21" (53cm) you let the machine do the job. When you want to turn, tilt the front and swing the mower on the rear wheels.”
Both machines are mulch mowers, but both whiz through the thickest grass in the college’s orchard. “Cracking little mowers,” enthuses the tester. “They don’t even struggle with the thicker, long grass. And they are quite basic. That’s what a lot of grounds maintenance crews want — nice and simple.”
All the testers are impressed with the mowers’ anti-vibration handles.
