Keukenhof to use Van Gogh theme for bulb displays in 2015

This year is the 125th anniversary of artist Vincent van Gogh's (1853-1890) death, and Keukenhof has "seized the moment to honour the famous Dutch artist".

Van Gogh provides the inspiration for the Dutch flower shows, the new Selfie garden and a self portrait of Van Gogh made up of thousands of tulips.

Planted in October, the flower bulb mosaic is the highlight of the theme year. The mosaic has an area of 250m2 and is planted with tulips of different colours. "Vincent van Gogh" blooms next to artist gardens Rembrandt and Jan Steen in the Walk of Fame. The works of Van Gogh also provide an inspiration for the many flower shows in the Oranje Nassau Pavilion.

Keukenhof has organised the Van Gogh 2015 Tour together with the museums exhibiting his work. In the spring, the gardens of these museums will be flowering with Van Gogh tulips planted in the autumn by Keukenhof gardeners.

Keukenhof is open in 2015 from March 20 until May 17, inclusive.
