Kelkay sees stepping stones sales soar

Stepping stone sales from supplier Kelkay have increased by more than 150 per cent during the first half of 2016.

Sales director Richard Pyrah said: "We know from experience that consumers are seeking easy ways to add hard landscaping features to their gardens, but they are cautious of tackling major projects. Adding stepping stones across grassed areas or through borders is a really easy DIY project that even the least experienced gardener can tackle. And it’s really quick and effective.

"Laid the recommended 45cm from centre to centre, the stepping stones we’ve sold this season would reach from London to Birmingham. At this rate, we’ll be in Edinburgh by Christmas."

This season the most popular selling designs are those based around natural materials like coiled rope or ancient oak plank sections but constructed on a concrete base.

Retail business development expert Jane Lawler is working with the company on brand development.

Kelkay will be announcing 2017 new product development plans in the hard landscape category at Glee (NEC Birmingham 12 – 14 September)
