For Bank Holiday Monday week, supported by favourable weather, sales more than doubled year-on-year and grew by 135 per cent. The biggest areas of growth were garden plants, growing media and garden furniture.
JTF now has four external garden centres open at its Kiddermnster, Stoke, Walsall and Hucknall sites. More are likely to follow.
Senior buyer Gerrard Smith said: "The garden centres seem to be popular with our members, with early sales out of them being promising. The horticulture offer is viewed as key and is far more expansive than JTF has previously been able to offer."
All plants are supplied by Priory Roses, which category manages the entire offer for JTF. Plant beds were supplied by CJ Jackson’s of Hull, and new ranges feature from Elho pots & Grange Fencing.
