Joint founder of the Thompson Group dies at 66

David Thompson, co-founder of Thompson's Nursery, Thompson's Plant & Garden Centres and other smaller businesses with his wife, has died, aged 66.

He started the Thompson Group with his wife in 1976, buying Woodlands, a 1.2ha derelict orchard near Canterbury, to create a nursery where they grew and sold plants, fruit and vegetables. The business expanded into five garden centres and five production nurseries.

Thompson leaves behind wife Ursula and three children.
