The ‘Tea for Two’ is presented by the Yorkshire and North East British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI), designed and constructed by BALI member and Johnsons’ customer, Northumbrian Landscaping.
As many as 20 varieties of Johnsons’ plants, including trees, hardy shrubs, ferns and grasses, will be on display in the garden, which celebrates the tradition and ceremony surrounding tea.
One side of the garden will explore the origins of enjoying a mid-afternoon ‘pick-me-up’, providing the setting for the very English ‘high tea’ and the other will highlight the traditions of the Japanese tea ceremony.
While the basic garden design supply amounts to a number of approximately £3,000, the order will be amended and expanded on nearer the time of the show when the plants will be selected for their condition, flower, and suitability.
Graham Richardson, managing director at Johnsons of Whixley said: "We are delighted to be supporting Northumbrian Landscaping and to be showcasing a range of plants. Harrogate Flower Show is on our doorstep so we’re always happy to help in any way we can and can’t wait to see the finished garden in all its glory."
Dianne McCulloch, BALI sponsorship officer said: "BALI is once again proud to have Johnsons of Whixley involved, supplying the nursery stock. The nursery has always been our first choice and the expertise and commitment provided from both Ellie and Claire has been extremely valuable. It is great to have them on board continually supporting BALI and to work with fellow members to create this stunning garden."
There will also be a rare display of original drawings and paintings by the world famous art potters William and Walter Moorcroft at the forthcoming show.
