Johnsons received a silver medal for its new herbaceous perennial named ‘Geranium Miss Heidi’ in the New Plant Awards, sponsored by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). This is the second time Johnsons has entered into the awards after taking away a bronze last year for ‘Berberis Thunderbolt’.
Johnsons has exclusivity in the UK to grow and sell Geranium Miss Heidi to garden centre plant buyers across the country. The plant features masses of pink flowers with darker pink veining that continue throughout the spring and summer.
Johnsons also received positive feedback from buyers on the launch of its new 12 litre tree range at the show. This new offering will enable customers to buy 12 litre trees in smaller quantities instead of in bulk, meaning they can purchase all year round including in spring when demand is at its highest.
Mark Reynard, sales manager at Johnsons Garden Centre Sales, said: "We were delighted to achieve a silver medal for Geranium Miss Heidi. Our production team in York has been nurturing the plant to ensure it suits UK weather conditions and all of their hard work has paid off.
"At the show we signed several new customers to our weekly retail availability list which is great exposure for us. The new ranges, including the new 12 litre tree range which is available from August 2016 and the extended list of climbing plants available from spring 2017, also went down really well and we’re looking forward to exhibiting again next year."
