Client: Hyndburn Borough Council

Contractor: Groundwork Contract Services, Groundwork Pennine Lancashire

Youngsters up to age 16 are having fun on £235,000 of play kit paid for with grants from the Big Lottery's children's play programme and Playbuilder. The play area in Accrington, Lancashire, now includes space for eightto 16-year-olds with kit chosen by local children.

A Proludic net unit was supplied by Russell Leisure, a cantilever basket swing and rotary climber came from Play and Leisure, a Dutch disc was supplied by Sutcliffe Play and a climbing wall came from PlayQuest Adventure Play. A second space, for kids up to age eight, includes gear from Wicksteed Leisure and was funded by Hyndburn Borough Council and other local groups including trusts.

Hyndburn parks chief Lynn Wilson said: "This is down to hard work from the likes of Laneside Residents Association, the Accrington area management board and the parks team."
