Job Done - BMX track, Stockport

Last year, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council committed £15,000 towards creating a safe BMX environment for young people in the local Bridgehall community.

Bridgehall Youth Forum secured a further £3,000 from the council, Stockport Homes, Johnnie Johnson Housing Trust and Greater Manchester Fire & Police to pay for ongoing maintenance of the track.

The team moved in on 16 February and marked out a 140m-long track within a 40x20m area. They stripped the topsoil and used recycled clay-base to create the start jump and corners, which were finished with tarmac. The straights had a stone sub-base and crushed stone surface. Supporting mounds were cultivated and grass seeded.

Contractor: Clark & Kent Contractors.

Client: Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and Bridgehall Youth Forum.
